Four Nepali's held Hostage In India

Four Nepali nationals are reported to have been held hostage in India’s Balaigaun.

According to the police, local people, with help from the Indian Forest Security Force, on Friday took Man Bahadur Buda, Purna Bahadur Karki and Bharat Temjung Rai—all from Jamuni’s Danfe in Bardiya—under control while they had got across the border to buy goods.

Superintendent of Police Ram Kripal Shah said another unidentified man was detained while collecting fodder in a forest into the Indian side. It is learnt that the Indian people held the men to avenge an incident, where Nepalis beat up Indians over a border land row.

On Thursday, people of Danfe protested when the Indian forest security force encroached upon the Nepal-India border using a bulldozer. A fight had broken out between Indian and Nepali people over the issue.

Nine people were hurt in the fight. An Armed Police Force team from the Mainakhor and Jamuni Area Police Offices reached India to discuss with Indian authorities on freeing the hostages
