Supreme Court Justice Rana Bahadur Bam, who was fatally shot at by unidentified assailants late Thursday morning, died during the course of his treatment at the Thapathali-based Norvic International Hospital.
The doctors said he could not be saved as he had suffered massive internal bleeding. He had received four rounds of shots on his various body parts including neck, chest and belly. Motorcycle-borne two assailants opened fire on Bam, while he was returning in his car from the Bangalamukhi temple at around 11:15 am, near the UN Park in Shankhamul, Lalitpur.
His body guard Mahesh Giri and one of his friends, Ramji, were also injured in the shooting. The shooters are on the run. The motive behind the attack is not known yet. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
